Description
If you have an IBM P70 / P75 then you probably have a lopsided screen due to a broken hinge. These hinges are for P70 models with serial numbers xxxx50001 or later (system board will be either 56F9084 or 56F9085) and P75 models.
What is included in:
- Left 3D printed in ABS plastic hinge
- Right 3D printed in ABS plastic hinge
- 4 screws
- 4 nuts
- 2 washers
- Installation instructions
There is a bit of effort required to replace these hinges as IBM decided to use rivets to fasten the hinges together. A step bit makes easy work of removing the rivets. The HMM available online shows how to remove the screen. I used the opportunity when replacing mine to perform a thorough cleaning. I disconnected the power supply, removed the motherboard, and then at the bottom of the front of the metal hinges there are two screws to remove (one on each side). After unscrewing those the screen slides upwards and off of two hooks holding it in place. From there you remove 4 screws holding the monitor onto the hinges.
There are 3 parts to each hinge. The first is the metal part that connects to the screen, the second is the metal part that connects to the case, and the third is what is included in this auction, the plastic piece that connects the two metal pieces together.
